Find your people. Be part of the movement.

RFP membership is for LGBTQ+ first responders, allies, and anyone who believes the people who show up for their community deserve a community that shows up for them. For $15 a year — less than a shift meal — you get a private space to connect, early access to events, and a tangible piece of what we're building together.

What you get

Your membership, in full

Three tangible things, and one that matters more than all of them combined

Private group chats

A members-only space to connect with LGBTQ+ first responders and allies from across the country — people who understand exactly what the job is like and what it's like to carry both identities.

Sticker and certificate

A physical RFP logo sticker to put on your gear, locker, or car — and an official membership certificate. Small things that signal belonging somewhere real.

Early event access

Members get first access to RFP events — paint nights, pride marches, fundraisers, training sessions — at early-bird pricing before general release. You'll never find out something sold out after the fact.

Be counted

Every member makes the community visibly larger. When RFP shows up to advocate for training, policy, or inclusion — your membership is part of what gives us weight. Size matters when you're trying to change a culture.

Who it's for

Membership is open to everyone

You don't have to be LGBTQ+ to join. You just have to believe that every first responder deserves to show up as themselves.

You might join if you are…

  • An LGBTQ+ firefighter, EMT, law enforcement officer, or dispatcher

  • An ally within your department who wants to be part of the solution

  • A partner or family member of an LGBTQ+ first responder

  • A mental health professional who works with first responders

  • Someone who wants to stay connected and support the mission

What membership is not

  • It is not a requirement to access RFP's free resources — the practitioner directory, blog, and public resources are open to everyone

  • It is not a donation — though donations are always welcome alongside membership

  • It is not a commitment beyond a single year — cancel anytime before renewal

Common questions

FAQs

Do I need to be a first responder to join?

No. Membership is open to first responders, allies, partners and family members, mental health professionals, and anyone who wants to support the community and the mission. Everyone who cares belongs here.

What are the private group chats?

Members-only spaces built into the RFP members area where you can connect with other members, share experiences, ask questions, and stay up to date on what the organization is working on. Think of it as the inner circle — conversations that don't happen in public.

Can I still access the practitioner directory and other resources without a membership?

Yes — all of RFP's public resources (practitioner directory, HBSP information, blog, training, liaisons) are free and open to everyone. Membership adds the community layer on top, not a paywall in front.

How is membership different from donating?

A donation is a one-time or recurring financial contribution to support RFP's work. Membership is an annual commitment that comes with specific benefits — group access, event priority, sticker, and certificate. You can do both, and many members do.

When does my membership renew?

Membership renews annually from your sign-up date. You'll receive a reminder before renewal and can cancel at any time before the next billing date.
